The idea that if you are not sick then you are well is a common misconception when it comes to our health and wellness. The lack of common or obvious symptoms does not necessarily mean that you are healthy. Sounds crazy, right?!
When a patient presents to a chiropractic office for care- the chiropractor is looking for subluxations in that patient’s spine. A subluxation is nerve interference caused by a spinal vertebra being out of alignment- even slightly. Our spine protects our spinal cord which is the “information highway” connecting the brain and the body: muscles, tissues, organs, and glands. Having a subluxation can cause a lack of wellness.
The following are six signs that your child may be experiencing subluxation of the spine:
- Difficulty Sleeping
Subluxation can cause a disrupted sleep pattern
- Poor Posture
The average child spends 8.5 hours/day “plugged in”. A majority of activities enjoyed by kids these days can increase poor posture and lead to additional nerve interference.
- Respiratory or Food Allergies
Allergies occur when the immune system overreacts to a food or airborne allergen. The nervous system regulates the immune system. So, if the nerve supply to the immune system is subluxated then it may not be functioning properly- and will overreact.
- Digestion and Elimination Problems
The process of digesting food and eliminating waste is another important bodily system controlled by the central nervous system. Nerve interference can result in common digestion and elimination problems such as colic, reflux, gas, constipation and diarrhea.
- Weak Immune System
If your child seems to be “catching” every bug that goes around- this could be a sign of subluxation. Nerve inference may hinder the message from the brain to the glands to properly respond to a bacteria or virus.
- Behavioral Problems
Studies have been shown that children had an improvement of symptoms related to ADHD and colic after receiving as little as two to three chiropractic adjustments in one week.

In 1996, something happened that changed my life forever. And, in turn changed many other lives, too. At the time I was in college working toward my degree in Psychology & Criminology. The summer before my senior year of college I was hit head on by a drunk driver.
